GBCCA was founded at the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Dorchester, MA. in 1956 and officially incorporated in the State Of Massachusetts in 1963.
From 1981 to 1992,GBCCA rented space at The Field School in Weston as its activity center. After years of community efforts, the GBCCA acquired the building at 437 Cherry Street in West Newton in 1993 as the permanent site of its headquarters and establish the Chinese Community Center.
GBCCA, a non-profit and non-political organization, presently has a membership of Over a thousand in the greater Boston area. The main source of income of GBCCA are from annual membership dues and donations.
Objectives
- To the public promote awareness of Chinese culture and heritage
- To enhance the well-being, the civic rights, and the image of Chinese Americans
- To provide a multi-culture, bilingual environment for young people and to encourge the full development of their potential
