Thank you all for making our Annual GBCCA/NECYSC Joint Summer Picnic a resounding success! We’d like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our dedicated volunteers and energetic participants — your presence, dedication, and seamless teamwork ensured the event was both exceptionally organized and incredibly fun. I’m especially grateful to Grace Woo for coordinating the food and catering, and to NECYSC for running the grill and leading our wonderful icebreaker activities. Many thanks as well to our generous donors for the raffle prizes.

Our team has completed the analysis of the event feedback. We distributed 177 questionnaires and received 100 valid responses, a 56.5% response rate. Overall, the results met expectations and offered several helpful insights:

  • Membership & Engagement: 75% of respondents are current GBCCA members, with Yunhe Club (雲鶴社) emerging as the most popular interest group. We also proudly welcomed 9 new memberships during the event (3 family and 6 individual).
  • Looking Ahead: The upcoming 70th Anniversary celebration (gbcca.org/gbcca70th) and the Summer Picnic remain the top two points of interest for our community.
  • Food Preferences: Traditional favorites like herbal jelly and braised eggs were the clear crowd-pleasers, while American-style hot dogs and hamburgers ranked lower.
  • Respondent Age Skew: 76% of respondents were aged 60 or older, as fewer younger participants returned their forms. This also explains why no younger attendees appeared among the raffle winners — a good reminder that our results may not fully reflect our younger members’ preferences.
